A New REsource From Medicare
A new resource from Medicare offers instant, free, easy-to-use information about the quality of care in America's hospitals. It's information about how well hospitals care for people with certain medical conditions. It's information we can all use.
To access the new information resource, Hospital Compare, visit www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov or www.medicare.gov and select Compare Hospitals in Your Area or call 1-800-MEDICARE.
Hospital Compare is a resource designed just for you, the consumer.
The Medicare quality measures available on Hospital Compare are one way to see how well a hospital is caring for its patients. The measures show how well hospitals treat three specific conditions: heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia.
Hospitals around the country have volunteered to provide Medicare with this information.
Now, Medicare is sharing this information with you.
As the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) in Alaska, Qualis Health encourages you to use Hospital Compare as one resource to help you make health care decisions.
Qualis Health is under contract with Medicare to offer quality improvement assistance to hospitals and other healthcare providers.
We help them improve their quality of care through on-site training, educational seminars and literature, and promoting best practices.
We applaud our area hospitals that have voluntarily submitted quality data.
Their efforts to publicly report quality data and improve their quality of care benefit everyone who needs, or may someday need, hospital care.
To compare hospitals in your area, visit www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov or www.medicare.gov and select Compare Hospitals in Your Area, or call 1-800-MEDICARE (800-633-4227).
