Our goal is to provide quality health care in the convenience and comfort of your home, at times that do not interfere with your work or school and to do so at the same cost as a traditional office visit.
Most family and primary care can be done in your home. Clinic access is available when required.
At House Calls of Eagle River we do not have a traditional office. Instead we bring the office to you. Our traveling office allows us to see you at your home without adding additional charges for a home visit. This means that you or your insurance will be billed exactly the same as a traditional office visit. We bring the required supplies and equipment to provide the services normally found in the traditional office, including lab, immunizations and physical exam equipment. However, we are not an emergency medical service. If you are concerned about loss of Life, Limb or Eyesight in an emergency, call 911.
Traditional offices schedule 3 to 4 more patient visits per hour than our service allows. Since we do not charge a premium or service charge for coming to your home, we must economize on our overhead whenever we can do so without affecting patient care. We do not have a dedicated telephone receptionist. Should your call be answered by our answering machine please leave your name, number, and a short message. We try to respond to all phone messages as promptly as possible.
Our clinician, Fredrick G. May, PA-C, is a Physician Assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, he holds a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska and actively serves the community as a member of the Alaska Disaster Medical Assistance Team. He practices medicine under collaborative agreements with Dr. Douglas Savikko, DO and Dr. Olga Wasile, MD, the collaborative agreements are approved by the Alaska State Medical Board.
Special thanks to Dr. Douglas Savikko and the staff at Eagle River Family Practice, Dr. Olga Wasile and the staff at Peters Creek Family Medicine, Jan Oxford, PA-C and the staff at Eagle River Primary Care, and my wife Deb May. Without their support and encouragement my dream of providing home based medical care would not have been possible.
